"A Snow Day" 10"x8" oil on canvas board
I had my paints all laid out to work on a commission one morning, but I kept looking out the window until I relented and gave myself permission to paint this scene before getting back to work on the portrait. At first I was drawn in by the thin blue line of sky just above the tree tops, and how it looked with the almost pink sky, but I also loved painting the texture of the snow nearer me.
They say it takes a lifetime of practice to paint quicky and I wholeheartedly agree. I think this was done in a matter of minutes. It was a most pleasant diversion in appreciation of the snowy day!
